On the 13th May 2022, the Sydney University Mechatronics Organisation visited Reach Robotics’s HQ for a lab tour and a hands-on robotic arm demo. The talented students visited our lab to gain industry insight, see what we do, meet our team and learn about our technology. The group learned about our production and R&D processes and were able to demo our ROV manipulators.

“Having the SUMO society into our lab is always a pleasure” said Rosie Willett, Partnerships Director. “Our team loved demonstrating the Reach Alpha and Bravo manipulators and answering the students’ questions about our products and technology.”

It was a great opportunity to show off our expanded premises and equipment to the members of SUMO. They toured our offices and were shown the Production and R&D departments in detail including our testing tank and inhouse ROV fleet – the SAAB Falcon and SRS Fusion vehicles. The students were able to experience an innovative and dynamic lab environment first-hand, with our talented engineers acting as guides.

Reach Robotics is proud to be supporting the future of engineering in Australia. We have sponsored SUMO since 2021 and look forward to continuing the relationship in the coming years. We host seasonal summer and winter internships to help foster young talent and often use our internship programs as a launch pad for graduate careers.

Reach Robotics also sponsors the UOW Women in STEM Society and the USYD Rocketry Team. If you’re a uni society looking for sponsorship, please email pr@reachrobotics.com with details of the partnership.

Command Pods

Command Pods are a pair of space mouse controllers comprising of left and right units. They are designed to attach to an ROV control tablet and allow full system control from one interface. The Command Pod configuration simplifies control of a dual-manipulator system as operators are able to intuitively control both arms, while still piloting the vehicle.
The joystick model allows for arms to be directed towards a target while the system automatically maps the arms configuration along that path.

MASTER ARMS

Compatible with all Reach Robotics manipulators, the Master Arm controller is available in five and seven-function models to mimic your robotic arm. Achieve unparalleled precision and accuracy while undertaking complex tasks including:
  • Precise placement of probes for crack and corrosion monitoring.
  • Place and recover objects with unmatched dexterity and minimised
    workload.
  • Attach hooks and shackles consistently.
  • Reach confined areas unreachable with lower degree-of-freedom manipulators
    and traditional control methods.
