Each year, Oceanology International does not disappoint as a global destination to connect with clients, extend our network and discover the amazing innovation present in the oceanic tech community. Reach Robotics exhibited at the 2024 event in London, between 12-14th March, under our parent company General Oceans for the first time.

Curtis Opsahl, Technical Sales Engineer for Reach Robotics at Oceanology International 2024

This event was an exciting opportunity to showcase the new Reach X Advanced Intervention System (RX-AIS), consisting of two highly dexterous, seven function manipulators. The system was integrated on Video Rays’ Mission Specialist Defender, an industry leading ROV for naval defence operators around the world. The complete underwater vehicle and manipulator system, along with the intuitive control unit comprised of command pods and 3D software interface, provided tradeshow attendees with an indication of just how far advanced portable subsea intervention solutions have become in recent years.

Our friendly Sales and Support Team present at the show were excited to showcase the newly expanded class of Reach X robotic multitools, including three and five-function manipulator variants as well as a powerful dual-function grabber. Modularity, field serviceability, dexterity and power in relation to size are hallmark features of Reach X robotic arms that distinguish them as the worlds leading portable subsea manipulators (read more about the technical significance of Reach X here).

Joining us on the booth were our sister companies, Tritech, Klein Marine Systems, SRS and Nortek, making the Oceanology International a collaborative and memorable experience with technical demonstrations, on-stand happy hours and a barista serving coffee around the clock. Reach Robotics looks forward to future Oceanology International events, providing portable intervention solutions to the critical and commercial industry and serving the evolving needs of our clients.

Command Pods

Command Pods are a pair of space mouse controllers comprising of left and right units. They are designed to attach to an ROV control tablet and allow full system control from one interface. The Command Pod configuration simplifies control of a dual-manipulator system as operators are able to intuitively control both arms, while still piloting the vehicle.
The joystick model allows for arms to be directed towards a target while the system automatically maps the arms configuration along that path.

MASTER ARMS

Compatible with all Reach Robotics manipulators, the Master Arm controller is available in five and seven-function models to mimic your robotic arm. Achieve unparalleled precision and accuracy while undertaking complex tasks including:
  • Precise placement of probes for crack and corrosion monitoring.
  • Place and recover objects with unmatched dexterity and minimised
    workload.
  • Attach hooks and shackles consistently.
  • Reach confined areas unreachable with lower degree-of-freedom manipulators
    and traditional control methods.
